Special Feature: Emmett Sparling

About Emmett

Emmett Sparling is a photographer and director based out of Vancouver Canada. His photography work covers a wide range of subjects from landscapes, wildlife, underwater, portraits, and the travel adventure content he shares every day on instagram.

Emmett has been travelling full time around the globe since 2016, capturing the beauty of our planet and telling the stories within the landscapes he explores.

This exclusive collection of ten landscape photographs in British Columbia are inspired by Emmett’s experience at Island Pacific School including the September school hiking trip on Garibaldi Mountain and his time on Bowen Island as a student.

Each year, Island Pacific School students start their school year off with a memorable, adventurous and challenging hiking trip for four days on Garibaldi Mountain. This trip is not just a hiking and camping trip. It is an opportunity for personal growth, practical experience, connection, and leadership.

“Growing up in BC has allowed me to see my home in the best conditions possible. During the 2020 pandemic, I was given more time at home, allowing me to explore new places that I hadn’t given much thought to before. It’s easy to take your home for granted, but this year has given me the chance to appreciate it fully.” – Emmett Sparling

With an audience of almost 1 million people on social media, Emmett uses his influence for positive impact storytelling as well as teaching photography.

Our alumni talk about their Island Pacific School Experiences

I had the privilege of attending Island Pacific School (IPS) from grade 6-9 and graduated in 2015. However, it was not only a privilege but a choice my family and I made each day as we drove from Squamish to Horseshoe Bay to catch the morning ferry; I am forever grateful to my parents for supporting me in this adventure as IPS forever changed my approach to education and life.
