IPS Celebrates 25 Years!

Hi Folks!

As you may have already heard, we have recently decided to host a virtual party on Saturday, November 28th to celebrate Island Pacific School’s 25th Anniversary as follows:

Island Pacific School’s 25th Anniversary
A Cyber Soiree!
Come be entertained, celebrate and contribute!
Saturday, November 28th
6:30-7:30 pm (PST)
7:30 to 8:30 pm Alumni gathering and break-out reunion events

The main focus of the virtual celebration is, well, YOU — but in order to make this work, we really need your help. In particular, we need as many IPS student and staff alumni as possible to send us a 15-60 second video clip (shot in landscape on your phone) that is creative and highlights where you are in life, briefly:

Please answer all or any of the questions below:

  1. What is your name?
  2. Where are you living (or calling from) right now?
  3. What (briefly) are you doing now? (This could be work or other pursuits)
  4. What is your most memorable moment from Island Pacific School?
  5. What do you consider the most important lesson you learned at IPS
  6. What have you taken from IPS that influences your life today and possibly society in general?

Finish with a closing remark of your choice as per examples below:

“Have a great evening!”
“Happy 25th IPS!”
“Enjoy the party tonight”
“See you at the celebration on Saturday November 28th”

Please embellish the clip and be creative! Sometimes actions speak louder than words! Should it be easier, we can assist by having our production company record you remotely, in any way your heart desires. This is my own quick example of a clip that took me, literally, 5 minutes to record and send.

Ted Spear founder IPSWhat I am struck by — in listening to the stories about IPS alumni staff and students — is how incredibly interesting and diverse are the multiple pathways that people have found themselves on. It will be great to get a taste of that on November 28th.

What we are asking of you now are two things:

  1. Please put Saturday, November 28th (6:30 pm PST) on your calendar – more details to follow in coming weeks
  2. Please send us a 15-60 second “Where Are They Now” video clip along the lines described above

Please send your clips ASAP to Julia McCaig, the school’s indefatigable Director of Development and Alumni Engagement, at julia@go.islandpacific.org. We need these ASAP in order to build our celebration, but certainly no later than Friday, November 13, in order to get them into the show. And, should you wish to be recorded by our production team remotely, reach out so we can arrange this.

We are all looking forward to the chance to check in with one another and share a few remembrances of that highly improbable middle school on Bowen Island. Here is hoping you can join us via your pre-recorded video clip and your participation on November 28th.

All the best,

Ted Spear, Ph.D.
IPS Founding Head (Ret’d)
