We recently appeared in an Our Kids video called Voices of Leadership: Insights from Canada’s Top School Heads. For a school our size, that is worth noting: even as a very small school, Island Pacific School has a voice that carries.
IPS is the smallest middle school in CAIS, but we have spent more than 30 years doing serious work in the middle years. We are an IB World School focused exclusively on Grades 6 to 9, and that clarity of purpose has shaped the school from the beginning.
I think that is what this moment points to. This little school on Bowen Island is part of a national conversation about what good education looks like. We may be small, but we are not minor. Our size has forced us to be clear about who we are, what we believe, and what these years of a young person’s life are for. That matters.
