“The ferry rides are so much fun; it’s a great way to hang out with friends and feel more independent. I never imagined a school like this.”

Middle School Matters

At Island Pacific School, we focus exclusively on the transformative middle school years, guiding students in grades 6-9 through a program that balances personal growth and academic development.

With over 30 years of expertise, our approach nurtures curiosity, critical thinking, and self-discovery. Nestled on Bowen Island, our small, close-knit community fosters trust and respect while offering a globally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme.

Through diverse learning experiences—including outdoor education, service projects, and cultural excursions—students build skills, confidence, and character. Graduates leave well-prepared for high school and inspired for a lifetime of discovery.

Oh, The Places You’ll Go…

The Masterworks project is a grade 9 milestone, where students dive into independent research and showcase their passions. Take a look at the transformative journey your child will embark on in just four years.

“Our fundamental job as educators is to help equip and inspire students to cultivate their humanity”

– Ted Spear, Founder

Our Approach

Island Pacific School’s values—wisdom, courage, and integrity—are at the heart of everything we do. These core principles guide our approach to teaching, learning, and community.

Together, our approach and values create a unique middle school experience that inspires students to become curious, compassionate, and capable individuals ready to make a meaningful difference.

"Thank You For Being Here"

At Island Pacific School, mutual respect between students and teachers is at the heart of everything we do. One simple daily ritual says it all.

Before every class begins, the teacher enters the room, and students rise from their seats. Making eye contact with each student, the teacher says, “Thank you for being here.”

It’s more than words—it’s a shared commitment. Students signal their readiness to learn, while teachers affirm the privilege of guiding their growth. This small yet meaningful moment reflects the intentionality, respect, and connection that define life at Island Pacific School.
