The 2016-17 school year is likely ancient history for anyone that happens to be reading this post. Whether you are a student, parent, teacher or community supporter, I imagine the summer sun and blue skies have sufficiently wrested you from the routines and rhythms of the academic year.

Since my arrival in June and the associated festivities linked with Golden Disc and the Rites of Passage, my family and I have been settling into our new life here on Bowen. July 6th marked the possession date of our new home, and we are very excited to now call Bowen, “home.”

I have spent the weeks since the Rites of Passage working with and getting to know the amazing IPS staff and liaising directly with Ted to ensure a smooth transition in the fall.

2016-17 was a big year for IPS as the Board strategically launched the very successful “Bridge to the Future” fundraising campaign. As a result, a fabulous renovation of the second floor into the IPS “Think Tank” is already under way.

I look forward to welcoming all returning students on Tuesday, September 5th and will be particularly thrilled to welcome the new incoming cohort of sixth graders as they begin their “Distinctly Different” IPS journey.

A reminder that the parent BBQ will be a week later on Tuesday, September 12th and will be followed by the IPS Society Annual General Meeting and Orientation.

I hope that you are all enjoying restful and joyous days with your friends and family be it here in Canada or around the world.
