Our Philosophy

Middle school matters most. Why?

During the middle years, schools can either lose students or set them up for the rest of their lives. Put students in an environment of mediocrity and they will wither on the vine. Create a climate of challenge and expectation, and they will surprise us all. Located on Bowen Island, BC, Island Pacific School (IPS) is uniquely designed to give grade 6-9 middle school students the education they need: an education that challenges and surprises them to become the very best of who they are. Small by design, IPS is an IB Middle Years Program school with a total of 70 students, and is accredited by both ISABC and CAIS.

Island Pacific School gives students the foundation to discover the best of themselves.  It offers the kind of education that changes peoples’ lives.

Small by design

With a mission to equip and inspire students to cultivate their humanity at a pivotal point in their lives, IPS was formed on the basis of strong guiding principles. Our active board of directors help maintain the school’s direction.
