Ticket Guidelines
Tickets
The RoP ticket purchase deadline is June 6th so that we can confirm catering numbers.
Here is what the ticket allotment looks like:
  • Grade 6, 7 and 8 Students are allotted 2 Guest tickets each. In other words the student’s ticket +2.
  • Grade 9 Students are allotted 4 Guest tickets each
  • After June 1st, families who would like more tickets can purchase more, if there are any available

We are excited to be hosting Rites of Passage on the IPS campus this year. The ceremony will happen under a tent canopy on the IPS school field.

Dress for the weather
In the event of sunny weather please note it will be hot – dress accordingly and bring a fan! In the event of rain, it will be cool – dress accordingly and bring a jacket!

Food options
Light refreshments will be served during intermission. Please advise on the order ticket purchase form if you have any food allergies or sensitivities so that we may do our best to accommodate.

Schedule of Events

12:45 – 1:15 pm Rights of Passage Arrival, Welcome and Seating
1:15 (sharp)       Commencement
3:00 pm             Intermission, light refreshments served.
4:30 pm             Conclusion

Ferry and Shuttle Service
In order to attend the full Rights of Passage event,  off-island families will need to travel to Bowen on the 12:10 pm ferry. A shuttle will transport you to IPS.  A shuttle will return families to the 5:15 pm ferry.
Golden Disc Ultimate Tournament (Parents v. Students)
 Golden Disc Students, staff and parents are welcome and encouraged to participate in the final ultimate tournament of the year, Golden Disc. It starts first thing in the morning and lasts until 11:15 pm.
Here is the schedule of events:
8:00 –  Ferry to Bowen Island
9:00 – 11:15 –  Ultimate Tournament
11:15-1 pm – Shower, eat lunch, prepare for RoP*
NOTE: Lunch will not be served at Rights of Passage – light refreshments will not be served until 3 pm.
Typically on-island families assist with hosting off-island families on Rites of Passage day by providing a place to shower and change. Please connect with with other IPS families to make arrangements.

Rites of Passage is the most important ceremony of the school year. While an emphasis is placed on the graduating class, this dress-up evening out serves as the principal way in which all students are publicly honoured and celebrated for their achievements.
Parents, friends & families, faculty, and alumni all attend.
